Telstar is the official match ball of the 1970 FIFA World Cup in Mexico.
This was the first Adidas ball to be used at the World Cup. It was made of leather and was shaped like a trimmed icosahedron with 12 black pentagons and 20 white hexagons. The name Telstar Ball was derived from the respective titles of American satellites launched into orbit in 1962. Moreover, the ball is nicknamed "Television Star" because the design of the ball is black and consistent with it. White TV.
Only 20 Telstars were delivered for the World Cup, of which about 600,000 copies were sold later. In 1970 some matches were played with brown balls. The 1974 Chile Durlast was all white.
