FIFA World Cup host country (1930 - 2026)
The FIFA World Cup opened in 1930. Uruguay had the opportunity to host the FIFA World Cup for the first time and the host country itself won. South America, North America, Europe, Africa and Asia have been hosting the FIFA World Cup for several years.
So far, 21 FIFA World Cups have been held and Europe has hosted half of them so far. Europe hosted the 11th tournament in Russia in 2018 and France won. Qatar has hosted the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The 2026 World Cup, which will be the 23rd edition of the FIFA World Cup, is scheduled to be played in three American countries: Canada, Mexico and the United States. The three countries are set to host the World Cup, which will be known as Al Ittihad 2026.
